Phillies go to the Mariners

The baseball season is almost over. His team has had a fairly rough year. They have yet to win a game. We are a tad happy this one is almost in the books. All the parents warned us that the first year of kid pitch is the worst. They were right! But they did have a good team outing to the Mariners. :)

Waterballoon fight

Somebody enjoyed his first water balloon fight. Is it still a fight if they don't resist?

Let me take a selfie

Kenzie's masterpiece

Eric's boat

Eric took the boys out for a boat ride yesterday and let Mason drive. It was Ermi's first experience on a fast boat. Mason is a bit of a crazy driver and I was Ermi's constant seatbelt.

Posed

Who cares about rain?

Little Trackster

Kenzie did the 200, relay and high jump in her first track meet! She has been working out very hard, and she cleared 3'6" in her first jump.

Straight As!!

Grammy selfie ... Getting better

Mother's Day on top of Rattlesnake Ridge

After celebrating the day with a brunch, Kenzie and Mason hiked up to the top of Hurricane Ridge today with me (and Bentley). Cindy and Ermias hung out at the lake. It took us about three hours in total, including hang time at the top. Beautiful day for it and we are all ready for long baths.

Ahhh...Happy Moths Day

Enough of these western germs!!

I believe that Ermi has been developing his immunity to all of our western germs. He has pretty much had a runny nose since he got here and has been taken down a couple of times. Mason got strep throat last week and today it finally hit this little guy.

Gunners tryouts - go #62

Mason had two days of soccer tryouts this weekend for the Gunners program. He has been on the B team this year and has been working hard, with hopes to go to the A team. But, that team is tough and has been together for a long time, so we think it's a long shot. But...he played great!

Yesterday he was grouped with the B/C team, then got bumped over to play with the A players. Today started with the A team players and stayed with them the entire 1.5 hour scrimmage. We don't know if he'll make it or not, but we were SO PROUD of how much effort and focus he put into it. He had his head in the game the entire time and had some good plays.

He definitely has size on his side - he's one of the bigger kids and one of the toughest. He was in many tackles, and somehow always stayed on his feet. (He's about a dozen kids from the left in this picture with the orange sleeved shirt.)

The days were mostly miserable. Here was the view of the spectators.

But at least we had cover! (Mason is #62 in red in this picture.)

Striking Fire

Sad face

Her phone dropped and the screen stopped working. While it was dead she accidentally shot pictures of herself. Deep concern!!

Too little

One regret we have for Mason is getting him in Premier soccer a year too late. It's been a struggle for him to get to the A team since those boys have played together a full extra year. So, in an effort to try to help Ermias get in early, we took him to Gunners tryouts. We quickly learned that it's just too early! One kid's chin connected with Ermi's head, and he was seeing Tweetie Birds. He pulled himself out and then didn't want to go back in. The kids are just too big for him. So we quickly learned that he is well placed in rec soccer, which he LOVES!

Mason pitches

Mason pitched for a couple of innings tonight. He did pretty well, but this is all within the bounds of "kid pitch," which goes something like this:

Batter 1: walk, then steals second
Batter 2: hit by pitch
Batter 3: walk, then everyone steals
Batter 4: strike out
Batter 5: walk

and then four hours later the game is over with a score of 20-18.

Be sure to watch for Cindy almost getting nailed as she shot the video. :)
