Unemployed and homeless

I'm unemployed, homeless, and had to ask our friends/family to watch the kids for a few days. I guess technically I'm "on contract" with Lululemon, scheduled to start in a week and a half. But we did get kicked out of our house because they're refinishing the floors. So, we farmed out the kids and took Bentley and Callie to Port Townsend. It has been a much-needed break for me to transition between jobs. Today Cindy and I took the double-kayak out today, followed a crane around, saw porpoises, and just admired the sealife.

Another year with the Gunners

Ermias had his tryouts first. It was late from 7:00-8:30. The late night did not slow him. He hustled and had a good first night. Mason had a game in Olympia the next night so we had to get Grandpa to help take Ermias. He did a good job and made his same team again. Boys 07B blue team!!

Mason had a good start to his tryouts too. After the first night, Mason noticed that there were not any goalies trying out except the one off his team. So before we left he told them he wanted to try out for goalie. Thursday night we arrived and they warned us the tryouts might get cancelled due to a very bad thunder and lightning storm. They told us it would be rescheduled for Saturday. But then the next day (Friday) they sent an email in the afternoon to indicate a try out that night. Neither Julie nor myself saw the email and we missed the tryouts. We felt horrible! They were still holding makeups on Saturday though but emails were sent assigning teams and Mason made his team again too but a lot of guys on that team moved up. He was going to get  his chance Saturday to tryout for goalie. He was excited and there were not very many kids there so he got more opportunity to be seen. And...he did it! He made an A team as a goalie! They kept saying to him now are you sure you are going to be a goalie and not ask to play in the field, right?! He said yes!!!

An American in Paris

Kenzie and I lucked out and scored VIP tickets to Americans in Paris. We got to have a pre-show chat with a few of the actors and the conductor.




As a couple of them were walking out, I humiliated Kenzie by asking them to take a picture with her. But she was most upset that it was blurry and thus deemed unsharable on social media. Good thing my standards aren't so high.

After three years at REI, I have decided to move to Lululemon! I am thrilled to be accepting this new job. It will mean more travel, at least for a bit, but it's a big opportunity for me and for our family. I'm a little tired of giant pictures of my head in the press, but I'll share these here as well for posterity sake.

WE Days

Mason and I got to participate in WE Days, which was a marvelous experience. It was at the Key Arena, with 16,000 kids, each of whom earned a ticket through charitable work. (Except those whose mom got a ticket through her work connections.) The day was highly motivating to teach kids to expand their horizons and be great world citizens.

This is as of 5/13 - the windows and door really make a difference! I love the light. But the permitting process has taken longer than planned and we are behind schedule. 

Legend (aka Old)

I was honored by the Seattle Reign with their Legends of Seattle award. It turned out to be an amazing day. We had 86 tickets, all VIP. They gave us all field access, which also meant free food...and "ground level" seats for those who chose it. It was quite an honor and a privilege - the best part was having such a strong support system there, especially in the great weather!
