Wookies

Ermias loved his soccer team this year! In the last game he scored 4 of the 8 goals, and then won 8 to 2. He got reprimanded by the coach for counting his goals, but otherwise he's doing great! :)

Recorder concert

We had the dreaded fourth grade recorder concert! Mason loved it and played both the regular and alto recorders.

Exercising the gulls

It's fun to make the seagulls swim across the water with the ferry by giving them popcorn. This one bit Mason's finger shortly after I snapped this picture.

The eagle

We had not seen the bald eagle at our Port Townsend house for a couple of months, but as we got into the boat to spread my dad's ashes, he took off right in front of our boat from what seemed like out of the water. He hung out with us all day long, soaring above our party. It was comforting. Dad loved bald eagles.

Family time at the beach

We have spent a lot of time at the beach - even though we just bought it in January, Dad loved it out there. It's comforting because I feel him out there. We also had his family memorial service out there and spread his ashes in the water right in front of our house. It was a special day -- all of his kids and grandkids were there.

It's June

This has been such a tough month after losing Dad. We all feel a huge hole in our hearts, but we know that his spirit and memories are still with us. Going on is hard and there are many daily events that he should be present in, but is not. Yet still we go. Everyone says the first year is the hardest because you anniversary every event. I don't know if it'll ever get easier because he was such a part of everything with us, but that also means that we remember him in such a special way in everything. He was my biggest "customer" of the blog, so it's been hard to maintain, but ultimately I'm doing this for the kids so that they will have a record of their childhood, so I'm committed to starting again. I'll start posting pictures of the last few weeks - it seems like a blur.
