He's a keeper
Fifteenth!?!!
Kenzie and her friend Sydney had a combined birthday party at Vasa park yesterday. They have such a nice group of friends. This year it was coed. One of the boys had mentioned that he went to her party in the 3rd grade, but it occurred to me that stopped for a while. Somehow I don't think it will stop again. Most of the week the weather was forecasting 50s and rain, so we were worried. But it was a beautiful day. Kids played volleyball, merry-go-round, and went swimming. Yes, bikinis and all. Sigh.

First year of track : complete
Mason finished the first year of track by competing in shotput, discus, relay, the 400 and hurdles.
First goal for next year: bigger uniform.
Memorable Memorial Day
Weather was gorgeous. We hosted a no-reservation, whoever-called-came, weekend. It requires zero planning on our part, we show up and open the doors. We don't stress about beds or food as it always works out. We don't even put out invitations, but all are welcome.

And when there aren't enough beds, there's always outdoors:

Mason had a couple of buddies, Jayden and Cam.

Ethiopia ties
Our friends went to Ethiopia and made connection with Wude and her family! We learned that Ermias' birthmom, Genet, is alive and well, and is the niece of Wude's husband. Kaia was able to meet both of them. Leia, her sister, had a coffee ceremony by Wude. We got a few pictures. We also learned that Ermias has a little three year old brother. Here is the woman who gave him birth.

We learned that his nickname is Chemsu, which is based on a silly television comedy. Wude is on the right. When she saw the pictures that we sent of Ermias she kissed them. Her youngest daughter speaks English, has Facebook, and is in contact with us now!
