Camp Hans Jensen

Both kids went to a day camp this week with some of their Campfire friends.

The second day was "mix match day" - and Mason asked Kenzie to borrow one of her miniskirts.

They had a blast the entire week. Each day they did arts and crafts, played games, and hung out with their new friends.

Fourth graders (hard to believe we have one of those now) did archery.

Kenzie had two counselors: Rocki and Bee. Mason had Tiget and Willow.

Another day was Western Day.

On the last day each group did a skit. Kenzie's was called "The Enlarging Machine." She introduced it to the campers.

Rally

When I asked her if she wanted to model at our Anniversary Rally, she casually said, "sure." Then she said, "will there be cameras?" Regrettably, I said "no" (except mine, of course). She replied, "okay...how many outfit changes?"

Today we showed up early with the rest of the models. They gathered in a corner and she just took off to be with them. I have no idea what happened behind the curtain, but she knew when to go up on stage and then, as you can see, quickly figured out how to strut her stuff.

The room held somewhere between 300-500 people (the room is narrow so it's hard to tell, but it opens to be very deep).  The girl is fearless. She admitted that she was a little nervous, but it never slowed her down. She told me that she likes to do things that are hard and stretch her. (And if a spotlight and camera are involved, what's wrong with that?)

Next step: pergola

We are doing final step of our 2011 yard project - adding a pergola. It should be done by the end of July, time for summer parties!

The video is fuzzy...but captures the essence of Kenzie's birthday party well. Lots of nine year old giggling and silliness.

The end of the year Campfire party was at our house this year.

Derby Days

Mason, Josh and Luke were intrigued by some of the entries in the Redmond Derby Days parade.

And we all agreed that this clown was extra creepy for jumping in our picture. Josh, in particularly, looks unamused, while Kenzie, of course, is camera-ready.

Kenzie was just happy that she got to do the hula and bring her puppy.

Karate & cheese

Kenzie videotaped her brother doing a karate demonstration.

As is our annual (most of the time) tradition, we went to Bill and Nora's for the Fourth of July. This year the weather cooperated fabulously and we were able to attend the parade, then sit outside in their back yard, BBQing and playing yard games.
