Last weekend when he abruptly decided to adopt another family member. We had seen the Maine Coone kittens at Kenzies work. We went to "check them out" and came home with a six week old fuzz ball that we named Callie. She sleeps with the boys, and they are both deeply in love. 

We have been training Bentley to be kind to her, with special reminders from his shock collar. We haven't had actually shocked him, just beeping it is enough to make him put on his listening ears immediately. Plus she is quite fierce. She hisses and he looks he other way. She hasn't even connected with him yet but he has a healthy respect for her.

It is October, but why let two cans of spray paint go to waste? Mason loved the attention he got the entire evening with his custom form fitting shirt. 

Goat wrangler

Kenzie has a job! She works at Fox Hollow Farms, a local fall family farm that sees a lot of little kids who come to play with the animals. Kenzie has been tending the goat pen, letting the kids in and keeping the goats from escaping. At least once all the goats got out and she had to grab them by the horns!

Soccer party

Mason's team had a party - a bubble soccer party. I heard he thought it was more of a human bowling party where he was the ball, and knocked everyone down.

Football

Number 87 has earned his way onto the starting football lineup, first offense and now defense. Yesterday he was also the PAT, which I learned is the kicker that scores the points after a touchdown, which he did after both touchdowns. He is still one of the smallest on the field and Cindy and I still secretly hope this is a one-and-done season. 

Earl Averill Memorial Golf Tournament

Every year since 2000 my dad put together a charity golf tournament benefiting local youth in need. This year the auburn rotary hosted the first annual Earl Averill Memorial Golf Tournament in his honor. We only found out about it last minute, but put together several foursomes and auction items. The weather was gorgeous and the day was fantastic. 

What happens when you ask your 12-year-old to take a picture of you.

THE party

We had planned to take a few of Mason's buddies over to the beach to celebrate his birthday, but that fell apart last minute. As it turned out, there was one last day of sunshine in the forecast on a Wednesday. And, neither soccer nor football had practice scheduled that day. So, what did we do? We invited both teams plus a few random other kids over, rented a 40 foot long blow up slip and slide, and ordered 15 pizzas.
