Journal entry: 8/25/02

Poor baby has Thrush in her mouth. Last night we went got to the pharmacy just before they closed and got some medicine. Add this medicine to her daily antibiotics that she'll be on for at least a year. At least it cured the UTI that she had last month. Through all of it she's been a happy-go-lucky baby. Some evenings are rougher than others. Such as last night. She cried for a couple of hours (continuosly!) until we went outside and looked at the sunset.

This morning we fed the homeless at the church Shared Breakfast. Everyone adored Kenzie as she lounged in my sling.

Today she discovered how to really use her legs. Stand up, sit down. Over and over. Does not like to sleep alone. Even if she's sound asleep, somehow she knows if there is nobody around. And, she's a restless sleeper...does not make a good bed partner. Consequently, other than Kenzie, there are some tired eyes in this house.

Journal entry: 8/23/02

Favorite activity: having people show their tongue. Makes her laugh every time. Loves a sling, being held tight. Wakes up early every morning (about 5:00) and wants to play...which consists of sticking our tongues at each other and laughing. Is starting to talk, giving little coos, very cute. A lot of competition for her! Grampy leads the pack as he would hold her 24 hours a day if allowed (as long as she didn't mess a diaper). Good sleeper, especially when being held. She slept through an entire Storm game and Cirque du Soleil. Grammy says that she hates to cry because she rarely does, and it takes her a while to get worked up to it.

Kenzie had a UTI and was hospitalized for four days. During that time she found her first smile while Grammy was holding her.

It all began on June 12, 2002, with MacKenzie Anne entering this world at 11:07 AM. She was perfect.
