Crabbing
Crabbing season isn't quite open yet but Jackie and I took the double kayak out for it's maiden voyage and caught a friend. It took a little bit of work and one very wet arm. And we eventually set him free.

Rocks and sticks
Mason and I drove over to the beach early while Cindy and Ermi finished
doing the final three hours of work to get the kitchen ready (we thought
they were right behind us!). He schooled me on batting rocks into the
water. He refused to pitch to me. He did not believe that I had enough
control to not hit him, a rare hopeful glimpse of wisdom. He can throw
rocks farther than me now too, and I still fancy myself as being able to
throw far (nobody said accurate, but distance is my friend). I finally
beat him at skipping rocks...but I'm running out of physical
competitions I can win with this kid.
And then he fell asleep on me as I was rubbing his head in the sun. I cherish these moments as I feel they are slipping away.

A Day in Town While the Sun is Out!
We were able to get to town to have lunch and wander downtown Port Townsend on a nice spring day! We were also blessed with another gorgeous sunset.

Kitchen remodel
After living in our current house for almost 10 years, we decided to do a kitchen remodel. The one thing that has bothered me more than anything in this house is the lack of light in the kitchen, which is where we spend most of our time. So, we are cutting in a couple of new windows plus a sliding glass door. In the process we need to get new cabinets, which requires us to get new tile, which means, of course, we should redo the floors. And, since they have to paint two of the exterior walls why not paint the whole dang house? So, we started that this weekend. This is day one! We hope to be done by the middle of June.
Before...right now this doesn't look so bad. :)

Spring break 2017
We were able to spend the kids spring break at our happy place...the beach house! Kenzie decided to stay with Uncle Randy and Tia Jo. Also Janel and Phillip were in town and she wanted to get some Phil time! She and Grammy will come on Friday with them.
Goals

Mason guest played on the 03B team (one year up) and knocked in this goal as a defender. He was happy that he got moved to the midfield.
Tolo
Kenzie has a nice group of friends and 19 of them went to tolo together. They paired up, but many went as groups of friends. Kenzie and her friend Gabe were "blue." The overall theme was the 80s. They had a fun night and after the dance they entire lot of them walked to our house for the "after party." Another friend had planned to host it, but that fell through last minute, so Cindy and I had another party booked at the same time.
As the time got closer for the teenagers to arrive, we realized that we couldn't let the April 1st day go without notice. I started by texting all my police friends and nearly had a drug bust scheduled. We were going to put a baggie of flour in Mason's pocket (with him in on the joke) and have them rush the upstairs full of the teenagers. When that didn't quite work out, we did the old "toothpaste in the oreo trick,"
But when half of them showed up soaking wet from the rain, I felt sorry for them and pulled the tainted cookies.
Most disappointing, all the adults and kids had hand-crafted hats out of foil and were all set to act surprised when the teenagers asked what they were for. We were going to, of course, reply that we were listening to the voices in the lights. But they never even noticed!!! We forgot that we were trying to get the attention of self-absorbed teenagers....but I still think this was hard to miss. Kenzie told me "mom, they just don't care. My friends aren't like that." Pfft.

Back at the farm
Kenzie got her job back at Fox Hollow farm. They are having an Easter egg hunt for several weekends.
