Deep thoughts
Mason was quiet for a half hour listening to his headphones. He finally emerged with a profound question. “Mom, if I punch myself in the face and it hurts does that make me strong or weak?”

Van-cation
With Kenzie driving now, Cindy has been able to come with me to Vancouver. It's been great for me because she drives me, and great for her because she gets a little break!

Summer in Issaquah
I have been traveling so much, and our yard has been so unkempt, that we have not really used it much for the last year! Today the boys were both out of their soccer tournaments early, so we had an impromptu gathering with the G-G family and Sarah, her brothers and a couple of exchange students.

Soccer start
Ermias is really beginning to hustle and enjoy the competition of soccer, not just hanging with his buddies!
Device addiction
We work hard to limit screen time of our kids and when they appear addicted to their devices, the devices go away. For example, Mason has no phone this summer. Ermias has lost his tablet for weeks at a time. But we have one child that we have not effectively restricted. Callie demands her mouse video by grabbing our phones and chewing on the corners until we play the video. She often jumps on the keyboard, or sometimes will just sit, watch it and purr. Clearly we have failed.

ATV accident ...
This didn't go as planned....reverse instead of forward, that's an important concept taught in driver's ed, which 13 year olds haven't completed yet. She was a good sport - said she didn't feel any pain, even though we had to wipe the blood off of the ATV.

Vamos a Mexico!

After the ticket snafu where the G-G family couldn't make it to Europe with us last-minute, we were very happy to be cleared for take-off. The full 13 of us were on one plane.
With a quick layover in LA, we then made it to Cabo! The house were stayed at sent a car to pick us up and then after the 45 minute drive we made it to Los Barriles, where we found the house we rented.
The first night we went to the porch and heard splashing in the Sea of Cortez. They were manta rays!
We also had ATVs delivered to the house so they were waiting for us by the time were got there. We had three 2 seaters and one 4 (or six if you squish) seater/UTV. It did not take the teenagers long to find the keys.
Saying goodbye...kinda
Felix said goodbye at Seatac, not telling the kids that he really was joining us on the trip to Cabo.
